IN-PERSON THERAPY IN ROSLINDALE, MA · ONLINE IN MA & RI

Therapy for thoughtful, creative, high-achieving people who look capable on the outside but struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the effects of trauma.

More trust in what you want.

More room for what you feel.

You may understand yourself pretty well and still find yourself getting pulled into the same patterns.

You want to feel more at ease in your relationships, trust yourself more, and feel as capable on the inside as you look on paper.

Instead you may find yourself:

  • Irritable, stressed, and stretched too thin

  • Replaying conversations and decisions in your head

  • Strongly affected by other people’s moods

  • Saying yes when you want to say no

  • Wondering why things that seem so easy for other people can feel so hard

Often, some of the same abilities that have helped you succeed—thinking ahead, reading the room, holding yourself to a high standard—are woven into the patterns that now leave you feeling stuck.

Therapy can help you:

  • Know how you’re feeling and what you need before you’re already overwhelmed

  • Trust your own judgment more

  • Know where your limits are and feel more able to act on them

  • Feel less responsible for other people’s feelings

  • Have more room for connection, creativity, rest, and enjoyment

How I work

Sometimes therapy looks a lot like conversation. At other times, we may slow things down and pay closer attention to a feeling, a thought, a physical sensation, an image, or an automatic response that is easy to miss when things are moving quickly.

I don’t want therapy to become another place where you have to get it right. We can make room for uncertainty, hesitation, or not knowing, and pay attention to what’s actually happening instead of rushing toward the answer you think you’re supposed to have.

I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), depending on what we’re working on and what seems most useful.

These approaches give us different ways to work with patterns that you may understand very well intellectually but still find yourself caught in.

Hi, I’m Sarah. My background in poetry and writing shapes how I listen: closely, for shifts in language, what gets emphasized or passed over, and the moments when an explanation almost fits but not quite. Many of the people I work with are very good at thinking about themselves and may already have useful frameworks for understanding their experience. I value those frameworks, but I don’t expect any one theory to fully account for your experience.

I tend to notice the small things—a change in expression, a shift in tone, the feeling that seems to arrive just as you’re moving on to something else. I care about understanding what is actually happening for you, rather than deciding in advance what your experience is supposed to mean. I want to understand your experience with you, in a way that leaves room for complexity, uncertainty, and whatever becomes clearer as we go.

If you’re wondering whether we might be a good fit, a free consultation is a chance to tell me a little about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of what it feels like to talk together.
